Important: PESEL UKR is an identification number, not a residence permit. For long-term legal stay, you need a separate basis: a CUKR card, a karta pobytu, or another permit.
Three Legalization Paths in 2026
Auto-extension of UKR → until March 4, 2027
Kartas pobytu and PESEL UKR statuses active before March 4, 2026, are automatically extended to March 4, 2027 — without filing any applications. No action needed.
CUKR Card — 3-year residence permit
A new 3-year residence permit with full access to the labor market without separate work permits. Applied online via the MOS system.
Karta pobytu (Residence Card)
Temporary residence permit for 1 to 3 years through employment, studies, business, or family reunification. Processing time in Warsaw is 4–12 months.
